Financial Services

Paying for school can be an obstacle. You’ll have help to navigate your way through all the paperwork. Start by speaking with your assigned Financial Services or Student Advisor, who will walk you through each step of the process, and answer any questions you may have.

Choose from several different payment options. You may use any of the following options to fund your degree program:

• Cash Plan
• Tuition Reimbursement
• Direct Bill Plan (Third Party Billing)
• Military Tuition Assistance
• Military Veterans Benefits
• Financial Aid

Cash Plan

Students may choose to have their tuition and/or fees automatically charged to their credit card (debit cards are not accepted). Automatic credit card payments are charged after the start date of each course; otherwise, full payment must be received on or before the start date of each course. Credit card information will be requested of students selecting this option in order to establish credit for this plan.

Tuition Reimbursement Plan

Tuition Reimbursement may be selected as a payment option if your employer reimburses a portion of your annual tuition. Tuition is deferred a maximum of 90 days after each course start date, regardless of when you receive payment from your employer. Applicable fees are due on or before the start date of each course. To qualify, you must submit a signed Tuition Reimbursement Certification and Authorization Form and include a valid credit card number (debit cards are not accepted) with authorization to charge the card. This card will be charged once the 90 day deferment period expires if any balance remains on the account.

Direct Bill Plan (Third Party Billing)

You may choose a Direct Bill plan if Ashford University has approved your Third Part Agency for direct billing. Third Party Agencies may enter into a Direct Bill relationship with Ashford University if they offer a tuition benefit of at least $2,500 annually for a student’s tuition and fees. Any amounts not covered by a Third Party Agency remain the responsibility of the student, and must be paid prior to the start of each course or payment period. The Third Party Agency is expected to remit payment to Ashford University within 90 days of the course or payment period start date.  

Documentation required for Direct Bill Plan:

• Executed Direct Bill Memorandum of Understanding;
• Student Finance Agreement indicating Direct Bill;
• Direct Bill Certification and Authorization form; and
• Voucher, purchase order, or other authorized medium approved by Ashford University

Financial Aid

Financial aid may include federal and state grants and loans.

Fill out and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine your eligibility. There is no charge, and you do not have to be admitted to apply; however, you must be enrolled before your funds will be applied toward tuition and fee costs. You should apply as early as possible, even if you don’t plan to start until late in the year.

Ashford University’s school code is 001881. You will need this code in order for Ashford University to receive the information you submit.

Typically, it can take up to six weeks to process your financial aid. Once your financial aid documents have been received by our processing department, you will be emailed an award letter with anticipated award amounts, and tentatively scheduled disbursement dates. You will need to pay any fees that apply before the start of your first course. To identify any outstanding fees, please speak with an advisor.

In addition to the FAFSA, you will be asked to complete additional documents in order to process your financial aid. Some of these forms include an Institutional Financial Aid Application, Entrance Loan Counseling, Credit Authorization form, and a Master Promissory Note. Once enrolled, your Financial Services team will provide you with a link to access and complete all the necessary financial aid documents within this packet.
